Do you often hear people berating and ridiculing you for wasting time on an obviously useless hobby and suggesting you spend more time actually doing things and earning money? If so, let us tell you this: these two things neednt be separate.
If you are good enough at a hobby, you can always find a way to make money off it. How? Let us take a look.

1. Teaching

There is no hobby obscure enough for you to be its only proponent, and where there are other people, there are people who are less skilled at it than you are. If you are fairly good at what you do, you can either find people who want to improve and teach them what you know, learning new things yourself in the process. Or you can create a video course explaining the intricacies of the hobby to the laymen and sell it. Or run workshops in other words, possibilities are endless.

2. Blogging

Everybody and their dog is blogging nowadays, and fairly many people doing so earn reasonably good money. If you have something to share about your hobby and possess some elementary writing skills, you already can blog. Even if your writing isnt much to look at now, excellence comes with practice. Of course, you will have to spend some time promoting your blog, using guest posting services, communicating with other bloggers in your niche, doing SEO but it pays off at the end.

3. Sell Products Related to the Hobby

If you know a lot about a particular hobby, you should know a lot about tools, raw materials, educational books and suchlike that would be interesting for other people with the same passion. You know what is good and what is bad, and you know which points to press in order to impress potential buyers. So why not sell stuff related to the hobby?

4. Sell What You Make

If your hobby involves making things, you can sell the resulting products on websites like Etsy. There is a much larger market for things like that than you may think, and you will kill two birds with one stone by going on practicing your favorite pastime and knowing that the products of your work find their owners.

5. Write a Book

Again, if you are interested in a hobby, you are likely well-informed about it much more so than the majority of people. Even if your knowledge isnt quite sufficient, a couple of weeks of intensive reading can fill in most gaps. You can then publish your work via Kindle Direct Publishing and, if you actually have valuable info to offer your readers, find your audience.
There is no such thing as a useless hobby. With enough ingenuity and work, any pastime can be turned into a valuable enterprise but first you should actually decide to move in this direction. If you yourself believe that your hobby is useless, you are unlikely to go far with such a mindset.
